The Soundtrack of our Lives: Part 3

And then there is this…..

All of this nonsense was the finale for a much larger production known as the “role play”, a semester-long high stakes musical production involving stage props, costumes and a lot of really stressed out Korean TAs running around worrying that everything wasn’t perfect. In the end, it all turned out okay: there were no major wardrobe malfunctions; the littlest ones managed to deliver their lines from “chicken little” even with their fingers in their noses; Buzz Lightyear baked in his costume, but didn’t pass out; only a few kids lost their pants in the costume-changing mayhem; and the parents—who mostly don’t speak English—didn’t notice too many mistakes (or we would have heard about it). Personally, I thought the whole thing was hilariously over the top, and all the little quirks and missteps only made it better.

If you are wondering how we got to this point, here are a few clips of my class preparing for the role play as well as some candids of our kids in costume:

LMAO, greg, if the whole esl/econ thing doesn’t work out, i think you’re SET 4 lyfe in the choreography industry!

Dear Katie,  Adorable!  “Soundtrack of our Lives” brought back fond memories of yours and Livie’s dance recital days!  (:-)

hahahahahaha this footage is priceless.  I really like the build up with the dance moves into the final refrain, very nice. It made me smile oh so much after a long day of work.

As much as I’d like to take credit for the choreography, I’m afraid I can’t. I was only there to make sure they didn’t look absolutely clueless, but we can all see how that turned out…

ahhhhhHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. oh my GOD that is SO amazing. There just aren’t words for all that is wrong/completely hilarious with it! Thank you so much for sharing that!  On Sunday Alex and I had to deal with a jammed up subway station brought to a standstill with people and strollers, and I finally understood why people in NYC get so pissed off…but if the babies grow up to do this… omg. I’m in love with your kids all over again!

ps – Greg, love your dancing. Katie – I’m assuming that’s you singing behind the camera in the second video??! HEE! Hugs across the ocean for both of you! lol lol lol

Yep, that was me! So I guess it isn’t really my kids fault that they sing off key all the time. Sometimes when I sing, they cover their ears and one little boy likes to give me this really serious look, shake his head, and say “teacher…. no”. Ha!

Greg.
So glad all that drum major experience paid off!  I’m still grinning from ear to ear!  How adorable!

lol you weren’t hired to be music/dance teachers! you were hired to teach english! and ABBA is hardly english…its barely even….conscionable lol
