Last weekend we had our second visitor, my Uncle John. Despite his many travels, he hadn’t been to Korea before so we were happy to show him around a bit. We made into Seoul to see Gyeongbokgung Palace, Myeongdong, and N Seoul Tower for a night view of the city. On Sunday, we stayed closer to home with the Korean Folk Village and Hwaseong Fortress.
In the spirit of the Wise Men, he also came bearing gifts from afar, including but not limited to medications, candy, snacks, christmas decorations, and good tidings from some of the people we miss this time of year.

Hi, glad to see there was no snow yet, but it look’s cold. Lots of good pictures! What were the cloth strings hanging from a tree?
I’m not sure exactly what the cloth was doing in the tree, but that must have had some significance in Korean lore. Or maybe the people at the Folk Village just thought it looked pretty.
We have, in fact, been getting some snow lately. We were downtown the other day and it started snowing with big fluffy flakes—quite a sight. People started cheering, even.
