In case you haven’t heard, Katie and I have officially accepted positions to teach English in South Korea for the next year. We sent all our documentation over yesterday, so we’re now in the process of getting our work visas approved. We will start work at the end of August, so that leaves us with just over a month to pack up our lives and ship out (which means we’ll probably be around to watch Bob Costas gush over Michael Phelps’ olympic dreams, but not for the first game of the Michigan football season, sadly).
If you’re interested in the details, we’ll be living in the city of Yongin, which is just outside of Seoul. From what we’ve heard, it’s a nice place to live with plenty of modern amenities (including, but not limited to, a theme park, folk village, and ski resort) but also a lot of nice scenery and such. Check out the official website for more info. The school itself (and our provided apartment) will be in the Suji district, which we have heared is foreigner-friendly and relatively easy to navigate without being fluent in Korean (which we certainly aren’t, yet).
So, that’s exciting.
