An article in the New York Times documents the increasing popularity of Korean food in America, particularly L.A.:
The food at Kogi Korean BBQ-To-Go, the taco vendor that has overtaken Los Angeles, does not fit into any known culinary category. One man overheard on his cellphone as he waited in line on a recent night said it best: “It’s like this Korean Mexican fusion thing of crazy deliciousness.”
Don’t get me wrong, there are some delicious Korean dishes, but I guess Mex-Americanization can go a long way to making their culinary style more palatable. Perhaps we’ll try some kimchi tacos when we get back. Maybe.
