The Uffizi was closed yesterday, so today was our only chance to see the famed Renaissance gallery. Once again, Katelyn was thrilled to see the subjects of her studies and tried not to linger too long in front of Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus. Tour groups were somewhat annoying but the pretty pictures made it more than worth while. Unfortunately we were unable to locate the mythical Bernini sculpture collection that was fabled to be there but we probably would have had to call the fire department to separate Katelyn from them anyway.
Stuffed full of art, we clambered with our like-wise-stuffed baggage back to the train station to catch our ride to Milano; famous for their cookies and something else… we’re sure.
Milan had a decidedly dirty/dangerous/less-than-pretty atmosphere to it (though I’m sure the people are lovely) so we were glad we only had the one night there. Once we’d hiked to our hostel and had some food we got around to checking when our flight to Prague was the following morning. We then started doing the math (Greg’s specialty) on how early we would have to get up to make it, barring any apocalyptic scenarios, and decided to call it an early night.
