Czech-cz-czech-czech-czech Czech it out!

(For pronunciation of title see The Beastie Boys “Ch-Check It Out” circa 2004)

We started of today by visiting Josefov, the Jewish Quarter. This part of town dates back to the city’s founding and we enjoying hearing about them from Rick Steves as we toured through the neighborhood. We stopped in to visit the Old New Synagogue which is one of the oldest buildings in town and has been continuously used for worship for 700 years except between 1939 and 1945.

We then stopped to watch the astronomical clock at the top of the hour (which was incredibly lame) and then stopped in to look at some books before a light lunch. Nick, ever the sleepy one, returned to the hostel to get his beauty rest (paid off though didn’t it? Just look at all his majesty!). Greg and Katelyn decided to go pay homage to the historical John Lennon Wall and go czech off a couple of the top ten national beers.

Reunited and refreshed, the three amigos set off in search of some potentially tasty goulash. We found a nice little place sandwiched between the two red-light districts with a little help from our friend Rick which was lovely (plus they had chicken fingers!).

Last was our mission from God to find Greg a new pair of shoelaces, made all the more complicated by the hugeness of the local Tesco. Don’t tell anybody but we found a nice little pink floral design in the ladies’ footwear section (try not to laugh when he gets off the plane).
