Prague is no sweat, well yes

Our plans to see Charles Bridge at dawn somehow fell through with an unfortunate alarm-clock ‘malfunction’ at 5:30. Instead, we managed to roll out around noon (literally, we were quite stuffed from breakfast). We spent the afternoon at the Castle Hill complex, careful not to pay any admission fees (see also: cheap). Contrary to our initial observations, Prague was every bit as hot as Italy and we felt it today.

Through the complex, we saw the Royal Gardens, St. Vitus’ Cathedral, and various other royal frivolities. The best sight, however, was the view of the city from up on the hill. Seemingly related to the aforementioned heat, there was a lot of sunshine, so we could see for miles.

A few gallons of sweat later, we arrived at the bottom of the hill in a perfect position to milk the view of Charles Bridge….with a nice cool milkshake from McDonald’s. Then Katelyn (as Katie apparently likes to refer to herself as) and Gregory picked up some tickets to a fancifully classical concert by some local musicians. They stopped to gawk at the gawking tourists in the Old Town Square over an ice-cold and overpriced Budweiser (the other Budweiser that didn’t register the trademark in time to save it from the stupid Americans, from ?eské Bud?jovice, Bohemia).

After the string quartet, we all reunited at our favorite Tesco to grab baguettes for the journey up Petrin Hill (there are a whole bunch of accents in there that I don’t want to bother with right now). There was a nice rose garden where some locals were shooting wedding photos and we quickly located the Eiffel-esque Petrin Tower but opted not to climb the 47854873934 steps.

We then spent the next hour solidly looking for some incredibly old and decrepit St. Michael’s Church which was conveniently tucked away in the foliage off the main pedestrian routes on the side of this giant hill. After all that nonsense, it was quite late and we found our way back to our beds for a nice rest before our 7:00 bus tomorrow morning.
