After all the excitement from the yesterday, all four of us slept like babies. We woke up and had breakfast in our hostel before gathering our belongings and heading out. Katelyn wanted to go to the Centre Georges Pompidou before leaving Paris and Greg decided he would humour her by tagging along. Jen and Nick opted to sit outside to guard the luggage and enjoy the free internet, but didn’t anticipate the heat and sweatiness. C’est la vie, non?

They say it is good luck if it rains in Paris on the first day. Well it didn’t rain on us but Paris certainly showed us how magical it could be. Katelyn got in last night after finishing her exam, saying her goodbyes to St Andrews, and rushing to the airport. She made it to the hostel with the help of some friendly Parisians and met Greg, Jen and Nick this morning. They were a bit weary from the bus, but we hit the town running.

Today we had a few more hours in London before leaving to meet Katelyn in Paris. In the morning, we hit a couple more tourist-y spots like St. Paul’s cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, and Picadilly Circus (in daylight this time). The weather really opened up yesterday and today, so blue skies all around. I dare say perhaps even a bit too warm.

For our second day in Londontown, we slept in a bit, which was pleasant. It’s amazing what an extra half hour of shut-eye and some toast can do. We started the morning with the British Museum—5 thousand years of history under one roof. The Rosetta Stone, of course, was magnificent, but the throngs of school groups drove us upstairs to the exhibits on Greece and Italy.

The overnight bus from Edinburgh to London turned out ok, albeit a bit too warm and snug for our liking. I guess we’ll have to get used to it since we’ve got a few more long bus rides ahead of us. We managed to get a spot of sleep, regardless, and weren’t terribly tired for the rest of the day.
